Ohio:  Helmet required for novice riders, required under 18 years of age, required for any passenger when the operator is required to wear a helmet; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is required unless bike is equipped with windscreen; maximum handlebar height is no higher than shoulder height.


Oklahoma:  Helmet required under 18 years of age; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is not allowed; eye protection is required unless bike is equipped with windscreen; maximum handlebar height is no higher than eye level of the operator.


Oregon:  Helmet required by law;  lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is not required; no restrictions on handlebar height.


Pennsylvania:  Helmet optional for 21 years of age and older who either have been licensed to operate a motorcycle for not less than two full calendar years or have completed a motorcycle rider safety course approved by the department or the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, optional for a passenger of a person exempt under this subsection if the passenger is 21 years of age or older; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is required; no restrictions on handlebar height.


Rhode Island:  Helmet required under 21 years of age and novice riders, required for passengers; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is required; maximum handlebar height is 15" above seat.


South Carolina:  Helmet required under 21 years of age - reflectorization required; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protections is required under 21 years of age unless bike is equipped with windscreen; no restrictions on handlebar height.


South Dakota:  Helmet required under 18 years of age; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed;  eye protection is required unless bike is equipped with windscreen; maximum handlebar height is below shoulder height.


Tennessee:  Helmet is required; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is required unless bike is equipped with windscreen; no restrictions on handlebar height.


Texas:  Helmet required under 21 years of age, helmet not required over 21 years of age with proof of successful completion of rider training or hold medical insurance covering injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is not referenced in Administrative Code or Statutes; eye protection is not required; maximum handlebar height is 15" above seat.


Utah:  Helmet required under 18 years of age; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is not required; maximum handlebar height is below shoulder height.


Vermont:  Helmet required - reflectorization is required; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is required unless bike is equipped with windscreen; maximum handlebar height is 15" above seat.


Virginia:  Helmet required; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection required unless bike is equipped with windscreen; no restrictions on handlebar height.


Washington:  Helmet required; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is required unless bike is equipped with windscreen; maximum handlebar height is 30" above seat.


West Virginia:  Helmet required - reflectorization required; lane splitting is not allowed;  riding two abreast in the same lane is not reference in Administrative Code or Statutes; eye protection is required; maximum handlebar height is 15" above seat.


Wisconsin:  Helmet required under 18 years of age, required for permit holders; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is required unless the bike is equipped with a windscreen that extends at least 15" above the handlebars; maximum handlebar height is 30" above seat.


Wyoming:  Helmet required under 18 years of age; lane splitting is not allowed; riding two abreast in the same lane is allowed; eye protection is not required; maximum handlebar height is below shoulder height.
